How Sweet It Is

Furniture designer Ethan Abramson brings an artist's eye to his work, with beautiful hardwood as his medium. Here he's created a side table that's buzzing with the warm details of American Craftsman architecture. The unusual, octagonal tabletop and slender bands of wood that make up its legs are crafted from solid walnut wood, sweetened with highlights of honey-colored maple. Crafted using both traditional and modern woodworking techniques, and given a hand-applied, natural finish, the design is sophisticated but warm--a welcome addition to your home or office. Handmade in Port Chester, New York.

Owner and head designer Ethan Abramson’s creative process allows for the materials to influence designs as much as the function does. This balance leaves pieces with a true sense of origin and purpose, something rarely seen in mass produced furniture. Abramson takes pride in the fact that all his furniture is handcrafted on site, built using a blend of classic and modern woodworking techniques. Wood from reclaimed sources or sustainable foresting is used whenever possible. Designs and shop practices are built around the idea of minimal waste, re-purposing, and environmentally conscious production methods. All pieces are protected with a hand applied all-natural finish.

Prior to woodworking, Abramson worked as a commercial interior designer, building brands and designing in-store spaces for many clients including Macy’s, Calvin Klein, and Sony. He has also worked in advertising where he wrote and produced commercials for clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola, and Major League Baseball.

To further this commitment to a healthier planet, Ethan Abramson, is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. A global network of businesses who donate 1% of their profits to environmental groups around the world.
