Springing To Life

Travis Bruce Black's lushly colored artwork captures the first signs of spring as winter slowly thaws. Featuring a subdued color scheme with optimistic pops of saturated color, the painting captures the excitement felt when fair weather is nigh. A content bird sits perched and ready for the new season's arrival, its iridescent plumage shimmering against a backdrop of bare tree limbs. Made in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

location

New Mexico

Travis Bruce Black grew up in Michigan, where he studied fine art there with some extraordinary teachers. In 2005 he moved to Albuquerque to continue his education at the University of New Mexico. Afterward he and his wife Molly started a unique gallery in Old Town Albuquerque. During this 4 year project, Travis came to the realization that his craft wasn't reaching everyday people. Consequently he started focusing on nature paintings that had a universal subject from naturalistic world to act as a more open door for people while still allowing him to experiment with abstraction, color and structure. Black makes his living as a full time artist showing in galleries across the country. For Travis, living in the desert increased his appreciation for how precious and curious life and nature can be. His work became this oasis, the concentrated force of life, color and juiciness of nature.

Comments about UncommonGoods Home Again:

I love birds and this is such a lovely picture. A tad expensive, so I got the print, but it'll cost more to get it framed. I'm giving it four stars because I was surprised to find what looks like a paper watermark at the bottom of the print, which is distracting me from the actual picture. I'm not sure what it is, but I wish it wasn't there. It takes me out of the nature feeling with the bird.

We gave this to a special niece as a house warming. I love that it's art and a bit of nature represented. I found that the artists signature on the back makes it feel more special. Pretty expensive.
