Craft Cozily

Perched on the edge of this hand-thrown yarn bowl, an enigmatic hedgehog watches over your cozy crafting. Tasha McKelvey hand glazes each bowl before firing, creating a unique piece that is as useful as it is decorative. Feed your yarn through the hooked opening on the side and as you knit or crochet, the ball unravels inside the bowl, nixing any knots or tangles. The hedgehog himself is hand-sculpted and two holes hold your needles in between cast-offs and purls. Handmade in Virginia.

Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Tasha McKelvey

Tasha McKelvey's clay work is intended to be useful - this is art that is meant to be touched. In the past everything we used in the home was made by hand. Today our homes are filled with mass-produced stuff. When we seek out handmade art we make our surroundings a little more human.

Tasha throws on the potter's wheel or uses slabs of clay to hand-build her clay forms. Each piece is glazed by hand and fired in an electric kiln. Over the past few years Tasha's been making pottery and ceramic jewelry inspired by the gardens, forests and the wooden toys of her childhood. She's incorporated lots of birds, plants and woodland creatures into her designs.

Studying art and ceramics at university, Tasha also gained practical experience from working alongside professional potters and now has 20 years of experience working with clay. collection
