Inspiration Underfoot

Designers Diego Olivero & Gonzalo Pertile collaborate with Guatemalan artisans to translate the breathtaking landscapes of their homeland into complex textiles that capture the richness of their Mayan cultural heritage. Artisans add a modern twist to traditional throw rugs by using heirloom techniques to spin dynamic decor dense with contemporary geometric patterning. Every step in the process is done by hand, from the washing, dyeing, and spinning of the yarn, to the weaving of the rugs on a traditional pedal looms. Handmade in Momostenango, Guatemala.
