My favorite mug.

I bought this mug years ago and I still love it. Even after years of use, the coastlines (and Florida) still disappear the way scientists say they will. I use it at work with my Hot Shot water heater for tea, hot cocoa, oatmeal, whatever. I keep the box on my desk, as well, because it's clever and funny like the mug. The only drawback is that it's not dishwasher safe, presumably because of the special heat-sensitive glazes uses in the graphic. I don't use it at home because I'm afraid one of my kids will toss it in the dishwasher and ruin it. A great gift for those who love science and humor.

Great gift!

I bought this for my daughter's Environmental Science teacher. He loved it! Upon opening it he immediately went in search of hot water, to see the special effect. As I ordered the item gift-boxed, I didn't get to see it myself.

Promotes awareness in a pop way

Our daughter is in her first year at college studying climate change and this was perfect for her and her friends. She watches carefully what disappears and what doesn't as the cup warms up and cools down. It will be quite the conversation piece when she gets back to the University of Alaska.

Replacement mug

I ordered this mug to replace one my husband has been using for morning lattes (originally a gift to me from a friend). After about 6-8 years, it 'gave up'. So I wanted to replace it and found the EXACT mug on your site. Apparently global warming is a myth..

So I've only used this mug a few times so far, but it doesn't seem to work as advertised. You can clearly see the areas of each continent that are supposed to disappear when you fill it with a hot liquid, but when I pour boiling water into the mug these regions only fade to an ugly green-grey color -- not to a true blue as you'd expect. 3 out of 3 people I've showed the mug to with no explanation didn't even notice there was any change. Overall, pretty disappointing.
