Hi,
$8.00
Say goodbye to smells and fruit flies with the odor-resistant Fresh Air Compost Collector. Its unique "wind flumes" allow air to flow through the compost, reducing the smell by facilitating aerobic breakdown. This means that food decomposes more slowly and stays drier during the composting process. No mess either with compostable bags! Secure the bag in the collector within a wire frame and unsnap it to remove your bag. Entire frame even lifts freely out of the container for easy cleaning. Lid pops open and snaps securely shut. Comes with five compostable bags. Made in China with approximately 30% recycled materials (stainless steel and plastic).

I recieved this as a Christmas gift. It's the best counter top composting storage unit ever! Doesn't require filters because it allows for air flow through the unit, drying the compost rather than keeping it moist like the traditional styles do. It uses compostable bags, you snap them in under a metal clip which keeps the bag in place. (2.5 quart bag) I cook 6 days a week and for two of us, the bag usually takes 6 days to fill. I use it for everything that is compostable and have yet to smell a thing or see any fruit flies. Of course, it is winter so we'll see how it goes when it gets warmer out. But because it dries the compostable material, the fruit files should remain at a very minimum. The unit comes with 5 starter bags to get you going. It breaks apart easily for cleaning in the dishwasher (awesome!) and looks great in the green kitchen.
I'm so glad we got this unit over the other 'bucket' styles that require a filter and keep the compost wet. And unlike the traditional bucket style compost units, the rectangular design allows you to scrape a dinner size plate right into the bag without spilliage. You don't have to aim for a smaller circle opeing. This was made to be used all the time and is so easy, you'll want to use it.

We had more fruitflies after we started using it. In fact it was attracting them through the screen in our kitchen. Everytime you open the lid to add something a bunch of fruit flies would come out. It was gross.

Comments about Fresh Air Compost Collector:
I keep this under my kitchen sink, it's quick and easy to stash my compost material in. I like that the box itself doesn't smell, it's easy to open and close, and the little bags are pretty easy to get on and off.
One thing I'm bothered by, (and this may just be because I'm doing something wrong) I still have to take the whole thing outside to remove the bag for disposal. Because, inevitably a mass of fruit flies come rushing out as soon as I press the button to open it.
But, overall it's handy to have around, and it's fun to use. Plus, you can't beat the value. I could have gotten a "pretty" canister to sit out, but it wouldn't be as effective, and it would have cost MUCH more $.

I collect vegetable and fruit parings, and take them weekly to the green market to be composted.

I promise to fill this out again after a couple of weeks. Need to use it awhile, first!
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery problems were solved with the help of your folks on the phone (Paul for one, Laura was the other)
Two deliveries were needed: the first arrived in good condition, the second one (which I am returning) was kicked around considerably. I assume the inside packing has protected the merchandise.

Comments about Fresh Air Compost Collector:
The composter is great. My problem was with the bags. I bought a box of 25 bags. In the middle of the roll about 10-12 bags had slashes in them as though they got crooked on the conveyor. So, about half of the box was unusable.

Comments about Fresh Air Compost Collector:
This compost container is effective at reducing the smells associated with keeping your compost indoors until you can take it out to the recycling bin. Previously we used a small Simple Human step can for this purpose. While I love their products, the closed container was not effective at reducing odor. We eat fruit daily and, even using a charcoal filter under the lid, every time we opened it there was a sickly sweet smell. The bio bags would be really wet and starting to degrade after just a day or two. With this unit we don't have that problem. We just take it out when it's full (usually every few days) and I no longer dread opening the lid.
It's also really easy to snap the bags in and take them out, which could get messy with our old can due to the wetness.
The only con is that not all folks will like the lime green and gray color combination. It doesn't go with our house either but it resides on the washer in the laundry room so no big deal.
We're pleasantly surprised with how well this works for us and I'm planning to get one for my mom as well.

I highly recommend this product. Having the bag to remove each time saves so much time and prevents having to do yucky clean-ups. I thow it right into my compost bin outside and the bags disappear within weeks.

Performs as advertised. Bought this with a composter and it works great as a pre-composter so that we have a convenient location under our sink to put scraps and then transfer it to the composter when it gets full.
No flies and only once minimal smell - but that was after we left it full for about 3 weeks over Christmas.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivered promptly and in good condition. No complaints.

We use this product everyday and the bags are very supportive to the tippy top. The bags don't break down as quickly as I would have expected. We love this product and it does not smell up the kitchen!!!

This compost container is so much better designed than any other I've come across, both looks-wise and function-wise. Collecting food scraps will never be a pleasure, but this comes close to making it so.
