Looks great but it inconsistent
The first time I set this up it worked great, it spun very fast compared to a friend of mine that has the same one. After several days left on, since there is no off button it overheats and turns off causing the moon to fall onto the base. Set up number 2 and the moon rotates half way in one direction and then rotates back in the same direction. I will be returning this unit, maybe it is defective.

To the moon and back!
My friend is a geologist / geo-engineer. One day I was showing him a bunch of 3d prints of digital sculptures I made as gifts for my kids, and after a few seconds in thought, he asked me if I can print the moon. Not exactly sure what he meant or what results he expected I asked for clarification. He wanted a hollow moon, because he wanted to build a wooden base for it and turn it into a lamp! What a great idea, but you know how life tends to get in the way so over a year later, even though I had a moon file ready to print, I still hadn't gotten around to printing it. Imagine my delighted surprise when I find a 3d printed moon lamp with a wooden base on this site! Not only that but it goes a step further than my friend or I would have and it floats in mid-air thanks to the clever use of magnets! IT'S AN ANTI-GRAVITY MOON! Anyway, short story long…. This the THE perfect gift for his new home purchase. #sweepstakes

Beautiful and well-made
I bought one for my nephew but after seeing it also bought one for myself and have it in my living room where it instantly draws approving investigation from guests. Beautiful as a night light for the area. I have friends in the Space industry and have bought this for them as well.

This is totally awesome!
This floating moon is awesome. So realistic, especially when it's lit up and the multiple color choices are great. Watching this float and slowly spin around is mesmerizing and relaxes me so much. I have it on my home office desk and love it.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product
This lamp is beautiful. I wish they had an attachment that would allow the lamp to work without suspension. After many attempts, we were able to get the lamp set. After 2-3 hours, of gradually building up its orbit, it fell off its orbit. We have tried countless times, for many hours, to get it to reset. It has been impossible to get it reset, and we cannot enjoy the beautiful light settings that are available. I recommend a stand that can be used to use it as a non-rotating lamp. Otherwise, it is not worth the price.

Are the base and the globe charged separately? If so, how often?

A power cord in included and must be plugged in to work. The globe is an LED light and doesn't need to be charged.

The spin rate of the moon seems very fast, not exactly meditative. I saw one answer that you can slow it down with your hand, but would you have to hold your hand on it-does it speed back up when you take your hand off? Thanks

The spin rate of the moon can be adjusted by hand. You would not have to hold it all the time to keep it slower. To make it quicker, you would simply twist it while it is on. To slow it down, you would use your hands to catch is while it is spinning.

Yes! The video shows the rotation speed, but you can use your hand to slow down the speed if you feel it’s too fast.
