When crafting her wool-felted botanical soap, Nancy Rosenthal takes great inspiration from nature's easy, but masterful beauty. "I strive to create that same beauty with layers of color, texture and fiber," she says.
Rosenthal delved into soap-making after receiving a tidy, homemade bar of oatmeal soap in 1996. She wanted more, and was committed to concocting her own natural blends. Soon enough, she discovered molds, cosmetic clays and the deeply nourishing benefits of essential oils.
Encouraged by friends and family, Rosenthal devoted herself full-time to producing locally-sourced bars and improved the home-grown product by wrapping it in colorful, natural-wool felt. She currently lives and works in California, where she handcrafts small batches of distinctive soap.
