Do You Feel Me?

Teach children to call it like they feel it with Todd Parr's expressive feelings cards. A celebrated children's author, Parr's light touch shines in these illustrative cards, where one side animates an emotion, showing it's opposite feeling on the other side.

Feelings like Excited/Disappointed, Happy/Sad and Brave/Scared are scribbled atop endearing sketches of each emotion. Their rounded edges, large size and colorful sketches make for healthy and fun playtime and development. Made in China.

                                  Comments about FEELINGS FLASHCARDS:

I purchased these artsy cards because I need concrete ways to encourage my music students to identify emotions of the music they learn, how they feel when the play the music and how they would like their audience to feel when they perform a piece of music. These fun, artsy, humorous cards that depict a full range of emotions is a great way to teach all students how to identify feelings and emotions and then how to incorporate this into their writing, music, composition, dance, painting, photography, etc.

For example, my music students warm up with scales at their weekly piano lessons. They then choose an emotion card from this feelings deck and then they figure out a way to express this emotion in the way they play the scale or exercise.

For longer pieces like Sonatinas, I ask my students to search through the emotions deck and select an emotion that they think the composer had in mind for each section of their piece. Then they learn to interpret and perform their piece so that each part is played in a contrasting, musical way.
