I purchased the large size and because of its bulbous shape, which is very appealing to my eyes, turns out it is cumbersome to handle when trying to remove the top which screws on somewhat stiffly. Water and detergent if used, gets between the plastic sleeve and the actual glass container when cleaning it prior to use. In the climate where I live, mold would quickly grow. I tried prying off the plastic. I managed once before using it and could not after using it. I was afraid I would crack the plastic sleeve. Lastly, the weight which is supposed to keep the contents under liquid is too light. With such a large container it needs a heavier weight in ratio to the contents, which is substantial.

My son loved it. They had a smaller jerry rigged fermentation set up and they were excited to get into the "big leagues"

water between the glass and white plastic

The piece is attractive, but when I removed the fermented vegatables, I noticed there was some brine that had run down the side of the jar and dried between the white plastic and glass. I am not sure how to clean it. Honestly I had a better tasting product with the jar and water lock. I am just wondering how long before there is mold on the jar. I am hoping I can return it. It really was quite expensive for what is happening.

Great for big batches

Great design, doesn't use up too much space for a 5L jar. The big opening is super convenient!

Love this! I'd been looking into fermenting equipment for a while but this is the first crock that seemed like it would actually look good on my kitchen counter... and I wasn't disappointed! It looks great, it works great, and now I have tons of tasty pickles to look forward to!
