Build 'Em Up and Knock 'Em Down!

Who doesn't love to knock things down? Destruct 3 is a great way to release stress, have fun and interact, and yes, it's educational too! With this suspenseful and entertaining game, players take turns building a tower while their opponents try to destroy it with one of the destructo devices (the Catapult, the Pendulum, or the Ramp). Sounds simple enough, but this game teaches kids skill and strategy as they learn from cause and effect what kind of design and positioning will help them win the game. Beautifully made in Thailand of sustainable rubber tree wood, Destruct 3 will be fun for the whole family!

This game is sturdily constructed and easy to learn. One player builds a small tower out of 12 very small blocks. The other players take turns trying to knock down the tower using either a small wrecking ball, small ball that goes down a ramp or small catapult. The builder earns points based on how many blocks are still standing; the "wreckers" earn points based on how many blocks they knocked down. I played this game with my 7 year old son, my 9 year old son, and my 65 year old mother-in-law. We all enjoyed it. The 7 year old became a little bored if other players took too long when building our "tower," and he had a little trouble building his own tower when it was his turn.

Four adults sat down to this 4-player game and had no trouble understanding the written, or visual (quick start) instructions. It takes longer for the builder to build the tower than it does for 3 players to destroy it, and after a few rounds, we just weren't that interested. I'm not certain that we'll get it out when we're seeking fun, noisy, interactive games.

The game is very well built and is attractive. The price is on par with its quality of construction. I don't recommend it for adult use, though, because it isn't that stimulating.

This was a gift for our nephew. The adults ended up playing with it all night long. He didn't even get a chance to play with it the day he got his gift. But, it's a lot of fun... it's challenging enough for both kids & adults.

This game is a solid, well-made set that fits into its own box, which has a magnetic closure.

We haven't played it a lot yet (I gave it to the kids for Christmas), but my husband and stepson (13) took it out and really enjoyed the destruction aspect.

I am pleased with the quality of this set, especially considering the price.

My 6 year old son and my husband played this game for well over an hour yesterday (we just got it). They will be playing it a lot more and I'll be joining them next time. It's a great quality game, made of wood and looks very sturdy.

This is a nice wooden game with wood pieces that comes in a nice wooden box. The box needs a clasp on it to keep it closed when not in use. I would like to see the manufacturer add a clasp on the box.

This game was great to play over the holidays. Even a three year old can help out with swinging the ball to DESTROY. It was loved by all, and the simple instructions made it easy to understand. Would strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys games.

                  • An Easy Thinking Game

                  Comments about Destruct 3:

Though the instructions seem a little baffling at first, once you play a single turn it all becomes clear. The construction of the game is very heavy duty and definitely adds something to enjoyment ... no worrying about something flimsy breaking right away. And we were also surprised once we started playing that there was a level of intricacy to the game that we didn't expect in the way that you construct the towers. Build them heavy duty or lightweight and flimsy? There are lots of nuances.

About the only thing I would add is that we labeled the tower building pieces with letters because the rules refer to the 2 pieces you use as the base of your tower and that these get different scoring than the other pieces. After a particularly nasty destruction of the tower, it was sometimes difficult to tell which pieces had been the original base pieces. By labeling them, we could remember that we had used pieces "A" and "D", for example, and score accordingly as we picked through the destroyed tower.

I got this game for the son for Christmas. He is in his building catapults phase, so this game was right on. He played it over and over again with his sister. I am pleased with the quality of the game. I am not sure if this will be one of those games that we will pull out over and over again, but it was pleasingly different from our other games and thus, definitely made a good Christmas gift.
