Apples of Your Eye

Pottery bowls are ancient, but this radical reimagining of what a bowl can be is eye-poppingly new. A 3-D optical illusion that fools the eye while doing its job, this playful creation appears to be a cross-section of a traditional, tulip-shaped fruit bowl. Less than three inches deep, the vessel can nevertheless hold up to seven medium apples or oranges. The bowl's slender footprint allows it to fit on a narrow kitchen countertop or windowsill or dining room mantle, adding a surreal surprise to ordinary settings—while giving everyone a whopping dose of Vitamin "see." Made in China.
