Jenny Gaynor, a Los Angeles-based artist known for her airy, almost ethereal glass creations seeks to provide meaning to the things we touch everyday, thus creating handmade pieces of jewelry and art. Using her exceptional skills deriving from years of training under world-renown glass artists in Murano, Italy, Gaynor's vision to defeat redundancy has made her succeed in creating something that is truly unique.
Gaynor began working with glass in 1999 at Tulane University in New Orleans and got her Masters in Art Therapy at Southern Illinois University. She broadened her skills from glassblowing to lampworking, and with an insatiable desire to improve her proficiency, Gaynor spent several summers in Murano, Italy studying with the masters at the Abate Zanetti School of Glass and at Urban Glass in Brooklyn, New York.
In 2003 Jenny used her art therapy background to develop a children's program while in Murano. The program is still part of the annual curriculum at the Abate Zanetti School of Glass today. The marriage of her background as an art therapist and glass artist is beautifully portrayed in the use of symbolism in her art.
Gaynor's past accomplishments also include production glass blowing for Nuance Glass Studio in New Orleans, LA and Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis, MO where she also spent two years teaching glassblowing and lampworking.
Gaynor's vision is conveyed through the transparent quality of the glass medium itself. She fabricates all the glass components on her torch using the traditional Muranese lampworking technique and combines them with sparkling semi-precious gemstones. Whether in her lampwork jewelry or newly introduced custom photo transfer vases, her final products are a whimsical, charming, truly one of a kind piece of art.
All pieces are created by hand in Jenny's studio in Los Angeles, California.

This vase is a beautiful gift for someone special in your life. I bought it for a close friend for her wedding shower and she and her fiance LOVED it! She almost cried. That being said it was the perfect gift but not sure I would have spent so much on it if others did not go in on the gift (we also purchased other items to add to it). Although the dimensions are given and it is exactly as described, it still seemed a bit costly for what it was. Loved the nice touch of engraving the bottom though and it was a big hit at the shower!

I purchased this vase because of the great reviews that it received from other buyers.
I'll be honest, I am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase. What I thought I would be getting was a family heirloom that I could pass down to my kids that captured all of our family and friends over the years.
What I received was a nice looking vase with pictures printed on clear stickers stuck to the vase. They weren't even lined up properly. You can actually see the edge of each sticker and that is what draws your attention not the pictures.
I could have gone to the store, picked up a $15 vase, purchased some clear printable stickers and done just as good a job. The one piece that I couldn't have done was the custom engraving, but who cares you can't see it anyway. It is engraved on the bottom of the vase and looks like my 10 year old wrote it.
So after giving this vase to my wife for our 19th anniversary, it now sits in a box because the last thing I want is for people to see it. Let alone to know how much I paid for it.

We had fun putting together memories for our boss who was retiring. He really liked the vase. Jenny was great in helping get the vase to us in time and helping with the pictures.

This was such a great gift idea. I didn't know what to get my parents for their anniversary but this was perfect. It really displayed the years of their relationship as well as the children and grandchildren they created. I was happy with the quality and the artist was really helpful when I was trying to send photos.
Comments about UncommonGoods Custom Brick Memory Vase:
I gave this vase one star, for concept alone.
Upon receiving the vase, I was very disappointed with the quality. First, when I unwrapped it, a corner of one of the pictures was separated and slipping off. Second, the placement of the pictures appears to have been made completely haphazardly, with little to no regard for the picture content. There are blank spaces around the corners where fuller pictures would have prevented them, and quite inexplicably, there are two photos where the subjects are looking at one another that were bizarrely wrapped around the corner.
We had been so excited to find the perfect Christmas gift for my husband's parents, and now at this late date, we are scrambling to find a replacement gift. We have always been happy with our Uncommon Goods purchases in the past, and we trusted that this experience would be no different. For the price point and the work of an artist, we expected a quality item, crafted in care, free from damage.
Finally, the customer service I have received in dealing with this matter has been abysmal. I emailed three times with no response. I engaged in a live chat, where I was assured something would be done, only to receive a curt email informing me that nothing could be done. Uncommon Goods has always been my first stop for gift shopping, and it is with great displeasure that this will no longer be the case.

I purchased this gift for my mother and there were tears when she saw our family photos from 3 generations. This was such a unique gift for someone who has everything!

Comments about UncommonGoods Custom Brick Memory Vase:
This is a splendid piece of art! A lot of thought goes into the cropping and placement of the photos to make each stand out. More so, the firing process makes each photo retain it's qualities while contrasting with whatever is placed inside the vase. I'm very happy with my purchase!
Comments about UncommonGoods Custom Brick Memory Vase:
I was really unimpressed with the quality. The pictures have a thick white border around them, the vase looks very unprofessional, especially for a wedding gift and especially with the price tag. On both of the sides of the vase, half of them don't show anything because they are the ends of the pictures so they basically have nothing on them. I would not recommend it for a meaningful gift or if you are looking for something that will wow the recipient.

Comments about UncommonGoods Custom Brick Memory Vase:
My wife loved this vase. I selected about 25 images spanning the duration of our relationship to put on the vase. The artist was easy to work with and accommodating. For example, I finally found a pic that I had been looking for but was unable to find prior to ordering the vase originally. Because there was still adequate time, the artist happily swapped out the pics for me.

I bought this for my best friend as a wedding gift. It came out amazing and looks so much better in person. Her and her husband both agreed that it was the best wedding gift they received. It is a very unique way to share your favorite wedding photos as well.
