Where've You Bean All My Life?

A satisfying pop at first bite, a complete synthesis of flavor with taste buds, and a smooth, rich cacao finish. Steven Shipler and Kasey McCaslin have three goals with their craft chocolate: work with sustainable farmers, bring out the full potential of each bean, and deliver joy to your palate. It's a simple mission with a complex process. Each batch of cacao is ethically sourced and delivered to their foundry in Phoenix, where the beans are roasted, ground, and mixed with ingredients like cinnamon and cayenne, mint and cashews, tart raspberries, and sea-salted almonds. Once the bars are completed, the chocolatiers call on local Arizona artist Joe Mehl to make the packaging as vibrant and illustrious as what's inside. Handmade in Phoenix.

We won’t give away all their secrets, but for Steven Shipler and Kasey McCaslin the key to top-notch chocolate is twofold: good sourcing and small batches. Together the Phoenix-based confectioners team up with ethical cacao growers and local farmers to create their unique flavor combinations, which include intriguing ingredients like cayenne and cinnamon, as well as more recognizable pairs like sea salt and almond. Each of their colorful packages is specially designed by local artist Joe Mehl, whose energetic drawings compliment the rich flavors inside.
