I love this globe. It's such a fun way to display our travel journeys without requiring the wall space for a map. The five red pins that come with the globe are a somewhat large for their purpose and can cover an entire state or small country. Instead we bought some decorative sewing needles that are small enough to pinpoint cities or certain areas of a state or country. Great product overall.

This was given as a wedding present for a couple who plans to travel a great deal. We all thought it's a cute and clever idea. I think the couple will use this to record their travels. As other reviewers have said, the included pins are too large (even for the larger sized globe), but small-headed map pins are easily found at craft stores. Unfortunately, there were missing components (decorative washers) that would hold the globe up on the metal stand.

Comments about UncommonGoods Cork Globe:

This was a gift for my husband to keep in his office to track his work travels. The problem is the big globe is really big and takes up a lot of space, so I had to get the small one. He problem with the small one is that the pushpins that come with this take up a lot of room on the globe. For example, when putting in a pin to mark his travels to Paris, the pin is so large it looked like he was marking all of Central Europe.

        Comments about UncommonGoods Cork Globe:

Because only a few push pins come with the globe, I also purchased a set of 100 push pins. I bought a National Parks call calendar, tore out each scenic page, taped them together, and used this as the wrapping paper. The gift was a way to say "keep life's adventure going." It was a big hit! He remarked that he was excited to use the push pins bc he wanted to see what parts of the world his travels have overlooked. I guess it's one thing to know it, and another thing to see it... I suspect that this gift will result in more travel!

          Comments about UncommonGoods Cork Globe:

The globe is a great idea for a traveler. I shopped around and this seemed to be the best quality, though the price was high IMHO. The only more affordable options elsewhere had lots of bad reviews. We like the globe a lot. The 5 big push pins were way too big to fit near each other even with international travel. 5 pins is a silly number to give, especially for this price. We bought a box of little pins elsewhere.

The globe is a great idea & is adorable for decor. However, it is extremely overpriced for the size and quality. The "mini" was extremely miniature & the globe is literally taped together in the middle. From afar it will be a great addition to my sister's home, up close it looks pretty cheap. Sadly, disappointed.

I received the globe as a Christmas gift. I love the concept, but there are a couple of deficiencies that need improvement. Your large red pins are not good choices, except to use them as a "starter" for the insertion on smaller pins. I found that partially inserting your pins (not all the way..stopping just before they penetrate completely) works OK, permitting the insertion of map pins. If you go too far with your pins, the thinner map pins fall out. Also, you need to find a stable connection scheme for the two spheres so that it does not impede pin insertion.. I belong to a large travel group that would love to purchase these globes, and I would be happy to promote them...but not without those improvements.
