Lisa and Sean Reico aren’t your typical jewelers. Rather than train in the traditional classroom, the self-taught artists gleaned inspiration from minimalist design and modern architecture. It’s why you’ll notice unique materials in their work, like concrete. “All of this is something of an ongoing experiment that started when Sean made a concrete pendant for me,” says Lisa. When the design drew countless compliments and the interest of a local storeowner, the couple decided they would pursue jewelry making full time. Many of their pieces are crafted from recycled or organic materials, and incorporate skills learned by artisans living thousands of miles from their Winnipeg, Canada home. The result is a beautiful blend of modern material with ancient artisanal influence.
