Joanna Buyert took a big leap by leaving her job in 2011 to create and sell her own pottery. She moved to her family's cabin in the north woods of Wisconsin and set up a studio in the garage. Joanna went to work on refining her skills and developing her style. Joanna notes, "the serene setting of the woods was a wonderful environment for creativity." After spending 6 months at the cabin, Joanna moved back to the Twin Cities.
Joanna's pieces are purposeful and inviting. "I love the movement that goes into making a pot, the spinning of the wheel, the push and pull of the clay. It's a frozen moment captured. I go for simple and elegant, to let the shape of the pot speak for itself." Joanna wants her creations to be treasured, not just for being pretty, but also for their functionality.
