“During my life I traveled a lot and always wanted to keep my impressions from significant moments with me,” says Ola Shekhtman. Ever since she was a kid, she wanted to find a ring to celebrate the places she loves. “I wished to have a ring with buildings wrapped around my finger, but I’ve never found one.” So, she made one instead.
First, she finished jewelry school in Saint Petersburg, Russia, then she learned to use 3D printers in New York City. Another city, Paris, was the subject of her first cityscape ring. After Paris, she created a series of rings that were meaningful to her—NYC, London, Amsterdam—and realized that others may be looking for jewelry to symbolize the places they love as well. “I understood, there are many like me,” she says. “I started to ‘build' new cities.”
Today, her rings are shipped all over the world, and Ola is honored that her pieces are special to so many people: “Daily, I receive stories from my customers telling why they choose cityscape rings and how happy they are. [The designs] help them [remember the] touching moments of their life.”
