“Everything is better dipped in chocolate.”
Chocolate has evolved over the years, trending milk, trending dark, and then hovering somewhere in between. But it’s been Gayle Harte’s goal since 1979 to recreate the specific, magical taste of chocolate from her childhood. In 1984, she moved her business from her kitchen in Royal Oak, a suburb of Detroit, to a facility in their charming downtown district. You might say Gayle awakened a sleepy suburb, opening not just a fine chocolatier but the town’s very first espresso bar. She delights in sugaring up local Michigan patrons and beyond. "Everything is still made and packaged by hand,” she says. “The only thing that has changed since 1979 is that now I have 25 pairs of hands helping me."
