Think Inside the Box
Kid: "I'm booooored." Parent: Pulls out secret weapon for family fun. Now, they're having paper plane throwing contests, creating rock collections, and making shadow puppets. That secret weapon is a little box filled with ideas for entertaining activities. To use it, just ask the kiddo to draw a wooden coin from the box and pick a prompt from either side. (Or flip the coin, for added excitement.)
If paper planes are your game, the Family Activities Idea Box has more where that comes from. (Can we interest you in a little living room hopscotch?) For more outdoor fun (say, finding spider webs and photographing them), try the Backyard Box. There's even a Bedtime Box full of wind-down activities for when the day is done (Like the shadow puppets. Other fun prompts include "talk about your favorite moments of the day.") Each set contains 60 prompts, making "I'm booooored" a thing of the past. Made in Oregon.
