It's Raining Cats

Ernest Hemingway famously loved cats, and wrote a story called "Cat in the Rain," which has nothing to do with this umbrella. But here is how he might describe it:
The umbrella is good. It is big and strong. It gives protection from the rain and snow. When the wind blows hard, it won't collapse. You can use it as a walking stick, if you need one.
The umbrella has cats on it. They are not real cats. They are pictures of cats, silkscreened onto pongee umbrella fabric. But they are excellent cats and they will keep you company in the rain. Made in China.

When Marc Brown and his wife moved to San Francisco, their first winter in the city was a real Bay Area season: all fog, rain, and wind. As Marc walked the streets, elegant ladies and determined businesswomen would suddenly appear out of the fog, but all he could see were ugly umbrellas with broken ribs, failing to keep the rain off their owners. There had to be something better, he thought--and when he started his own umbrella company, there was.
