Katie Lime works out of her small studio in Chicago’s historic and diverse neighborhood, Logan Square, with her two dog studio mates, Addie and Charger. Katie attended Indiana University and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design and her Bachelor of Arts in Art History. Katie is inspired by the botanical and natural world that so many pass by without notice or appreciation, and strives to bring out the loveliness of these small things and draw people to appreciate the natural beauty of the world.
"I pride myself on the quality of craftsmanship in my work, while simultaneously keeping my jewelry modern, organic, and pleasing to the eye. From my sketches, photographs, and studies of the natural world I create delicate pieces of wearable botanical art. I enjoy finding shapes and patterns in nature, emulating them, altering them and repeating them to create my own specimens of biology and botany. All of my jewelry is hand fabricated, beginning as a flat sheet of metal or piece of wire."
