Elizabeth New is a designer and artist with a deep love of ceramics, house wares and everything macabre. Currently an Industrial Designer in New York City, she received her Masters in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Before Pratt, she attended the Oregon College of Art and Craft, received her BFA from Alfred University and was the Artist in Residence and Ceramic Technician for the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland Oregon. The usual response to the dirt and decay in daily life is to block it out, to isolate yourself from it or deny its existence. By focusing on these things Elizabeth utilizes the very territory of our daily life, offering an alternative – a glad acceptance of and interest in the muck and mayhem of reality. New designs objects that bring the outside world into your home, erasing the boundary between internal and external, interior and exterior.
