SCO(o)BY Do

Let us introduce you to our little friends--our little microscopic friends. They have a cute nickname—SCOBY—and a wonderful skill: they transform sweetened tea into deliciously fresh kombucha. If you've been simultaneously intrigued and intimidated by the idea of brewing your own 'booch, these tiny pals—and their tools—are here to help. They come with their own food (tea and sugar), living room (a 1/2 gallon mason jar), and charming rustic home (a wooden box whose top turns into a fun wall hanging). How do they pay their rent? In delicious, healthful, kombucha drinks, of course.

The kit comes with everything you need to home brew delicious kombucha, including three kinds of tea and two cobalt blue flip-top bottles. Made in Massachusetts.

Black tea: makes a boldly fruity brew
Oolong tea: makes a milder fruity brew with some grassy notes
Green tea: makes a softer, lighter brew

Made in Massachusetts

Mike first discovered brewing five years ago. It was love at first brew. However, the brewing process left much to be desired. It was a ungainly process involving ugly plastic fermenters, a messy kitchen and thoroughly disgruntled roommates. He figured there had to be a better way to brew, one that would look at home in any environment and celebrate the process rather than hide it. In January 2013 he designed his first brew kit. It was everything he wanted a brewing kit to be: stylish, portable, and accessible. He wanted to inspire people to brew, to experiment with new recipes, to feel the satisfaction that comes with sharing something you have made with family and friends.

Comments about UncommonGoods Brew Your Own Kombucha Kit:

got this for my daughter, and she loves it. She made a ginger and lemon kombucha for her first batch and it was SO much better than the store bought stuff, and only took a week to finish. The best part is that you can keep brewing indefinitely after the first 3 batches it comes with, all you need is more tea and sugar. She's already on to her next batch and I can't wait to brew a batch myself, if she'll share it!
