The Whole Blooming World

The world is a place blooming with wonder in this altered map from artist Wendy Gold. She starts with a vintage map as her canvas, and uses decoupage and other media to make it a world of her own. Here, instead of charting out coastlines and mountain ranges, the continents appear as a floral wonderland. The title at the bottom proclaims it to be a "Bouquet Map of the World in Full Bloom." The print is made on heavyweight, 100% recycled stock canvas using water-based inks. It's the perfect piece of art for gardeners, nature lovers, or anyone with a deeply rooted romantic streak. Made in the USA.

“Inspiration has come to me steadily throughout life, and I have been fortunate to be able to chase it,” says Wendy Gold. She explains that as a teenager she “spent countless hours creating insanely intricate friendship bracelets, kaleidoscopes, and ceramic musical instruments,” and in college made a headboard for her bed so big that she couldn’t get it out of her room when she moved out. Always looking for new inspiration, she stumbled across a beautiful antique globe at a flea market and immediately recognized her next canvas. By using recycled materials, vintage globes, and maps, she creates beautiful, geographic art.
