The Light in the Woods

As the sun rises, light filters through forests, shooting beams through the tall trunks of trees. Peter Katz's lamp mimics that mesmerizing beauty. He handcrafts the design, laser-cutting an original drawing into pieces of birch. Once the four sides are completed, he uses a special joining technique, fitting the pieces together like a complex puzzle without glue or nails. Turn the lamp on, and a "sun" pours through soft, moss green paper and Peter's one-of-a-kind trees. The stunning sight makes a great gift for nature lovers or a "wow" piece for new home owners. Handmade in Colchester, Vermont.

location

Connecticut

Peter Katz sees the world as one big mosaic. The Vermont-based artist grew up in Connecticut, but his Costa Rican roots and travels to the tropics are what truly inspire his work. He says his pieces are a “visual representation of the philosophy we are all a part of: the oneness that has no true beginning or end.” You’ll notice the parts of nature he portrays are usually sea, sky, and forest or the "limitless" aspects of our world. When Peter isn't traveling to new, exciting places, you can find him creating in his studio in Colchester, Vermont.
