Dolls Of The World
In celebration of diversity, Constantin and Laurene Boym unveil a tribute to New York City with five distinct Babel Blocks: Moishe, Nafisa, Mary, Chen and Jose. Each represents the beautiful hodgepodge of cultures, religions and ethnicities inherent to the city that never sleeps.
Each wooden doll has a story to tell, and even comes equipped with his or her very own Myspace page and Youtube video.
Boym has been described as an "author" rather than a "maker" of objects, for his use of social commentary and story through innovative design. In 2009, the Babel Blocks won the National Design Award for Product Design - given to an individual or firm for exceptional and exemplary work in the design of consumer goods, technology, or home and office furnishings. Limited edition of 1000 sets of these five dolls. Made in China.
