Turn a simple light switch into an eye-catching work of mechanical art. Laser cut wood and intriguing gears blend classic Art Deco architecture with innovative steampunk design.

This fabulous contraption is the brainchild of Lance Nybye Jr.. He crafts the mechanisms from decorative plywood, often leaving the alternating colors of wood left exposed at the edges. The switch installs easily in your bedroom, hobby room or office—simply attach it over an existing, standard switch plate using the existing screws. Made in the USA.

Lance Jr. & Sr. stumbled upon the idea of jewelry design after a fire consumed their previous business of laser engraving bats. The bat business never made a full comeback, but they found a creative way to reinvent themselves. While attending weekend craft shows and weeknight street fairs, they had the idea of using the equipment they already owned to make wood laser-cut earrings. In addition to winsome wood accessories, the duo also creates brilliantly designed light switch plates, clocks, and other earthy and artful accents for the home.

The product is beautiful. However, the instructions say that it fits over a regular light plate switch and then use the screws from the regular plate to reinstall. I tried ever light switch plate in the hardware store. None fit. For one of the plates, it was easy, I just took off the old plate and used the screws. The next plate, I still took off the old plate, but I had to buy different screws, the screws got in the way of the mechanism. It now works with flat head screws. The third plate is a disaster. Nothing seems to work so far. At the moment I am trying gorilla glue to the old plate and perhaps the mechanism will still be able to move. Also, the switch that I wanted to replace has a tiny slider dimmer in the switch. The hole in the plate that I bought simply will not fit.

The light switch is a work of art, it is certainly an attention getter bringing much needed glamor to the humble light switch.

I purchased a different switch plate cover as a gift for my brother and purchased this for myself. It's my primary switch at the front door and it's very sturdy.

So original.

Love the art deco vibe. It is so original. Looks just as pictured. Put it in a room where it would receive light use due to other reviews having concerns about heavy-duty use.

Very, very clever

This was purchased as a gift for my son. He has not received it yet, so I can not attest to it's durability, but I think it is very attractive, very clever, and I am sure he will like it very much.
