A good encyclopedia will tell you that the ampersand was a stylization of "et," Latin for "and." Celebrate the storied symbol with this pin made from an upcycled vintage encyclopedia. Bookish artisan Laura Bruland Shields selects a page and section of the book's cover, glues them together, and laser cuts them into the shape of an ampersand. Finally, she coats the design with multiple layers of protective clear acrylic. Because every pin is made from different pages, each is a one-of-a-kind creation great for book lovers, typophiles, favorite teachers, and librarians. Handmade in California.
