I became fascinated with the crystalline realm at a very young age. My childhood fascination was the "vein" of crystals in the forest near my home in Pennsylvania's Pocono mountains. I knew I wanted to spend my life working with these amazing models of perfection created by nature. When I was 18 I started my career as a jewelry designer and craftsman, and my focus has consistently been on going where no one else has gone, pushing the limits and allowing my creativity to take the wheel. When I bought a bag of tumbled stone chips and found one to be shaped just like a guitar pick, the wheels in my head started turning, I knew I was on to something. But the polished rounded edge slid of the guitar strings in an awkward way, there was no precision control. So I took it to the grinding wheel and after experimenting with various different materials and designs, I eventually honed in on my hallmark design, a carefully shaped pick with just the right contour that allows for precision picking.

I bought this guitar pick for my boyfriend who loves both crystals and guitar. I didn't look too much into it before I purchased it - I sort of did it impulsively because I thought it looked right up his alley. Judging from the picture, I thought there would be more than one pick included, however, there was only one. This isn't at all the company's pitfall, but rather my own impulse. :) Just wanted to note that in case someone else believes there will be more than one pick in the package.

Other than my own impulsive lack of attention to order details, it's absolutely beautiful. The one I received has a fantastic, geode-like crystalline formation right in the center. I didn't expect that at all, and it's incredibly lovely. I'm very, very excited to hear how it sounds being played.

Bought it for the 25yr+ player who has everything. He likes thick picks but says this is just too much. His style ranges from Flamenco to Jazz Fusion so he likes intricate sounds, not a strummer. He says he's not able to really get Into the notes and make them distinct.
It may be just this pick but the color is murky and lacks the delicate patterns shown here so it's not even a good display piece. Its a shame, great concept but lacking in execution.

Comments about UncommonGoods Agate Guitar Picks:

The product I received looked like no effort was put into it. It looks nothing at all like the beautiful picture. The purple is much, much darker. The edges of the pick are hideous and not smooth like in the picture. I am disgusted that they mislead me to buy a cheap and gruesome product like this. Maybe if I got what was advertised, this would be a whole different review.

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas since he is a musician who happens to love gemstones and rocks, so this was a big hit. He is afraid to play his guitar with it though since he doesn't want to damage it, so for now, it's something to show off.

The giftee said "Your most unique and appreciated gift arrived today. What a surprise. I'd heard of stone pics but never have seen one. This thing has a very unique feel and tone. Kinda shimmery, silvery like. Hard to describe but verrrrrry different from standard plastic or other polymer type pics. I LIKE IT!!!
