Debra Folz's creations bridge the worlds of function and art. Whether she's designing furniture, home accessories or gallery pieces for exhibition, she loves to make things that invite the viewer to see familiar things in a new way. She loves to combine unexpected materials--like wrapping wooden stools with ladylike, pleated textiles--or transforming the way we interact with an object--such as a photo album that you open by removing its spine. Folz's work has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, and Dwell, among others. Her studio is located in Boston's historic South End neighborhood, and she leads the Furniture Design Studios at the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University.
