Drew says: I had stumbled upon a tree bookshelf on the internet and thought I would try and make one for my newly born baby niece. After I completed the tree and received many compliments I decide this might be something worth selling. Since this was my first official woodworking project I went through many different designs and building methods before I got to this point.
The tree is an artistic take on an ordinary bookshelf. Put books and objects anywhere they will fit, be creative with it. The target market is for nursery rooms and small children's rooms. This shelf will make a centerpiece in any room.
The Tree Bookshelf is made from layers of plywood. Each layer is hand cut out then routed to the final dimensions. Once each layer is complete the tree is then sanded smooth up to 220 grit. The shelf then receives the stain and three coats of polyurethane sealer for the ultra smooth glossy look. The tree can be made up to 6" thick to accommodate larger books as well. The tree comes in two pieces and is attached to the wall with brackets and dry wall screws. The bottom portion on the back of the tree is cut to allow the tree to sit flush with the wall and make room the the baseboard.
