Dream big. Start small. The simultaneous playfulness and dead seriousness of this phrase appealed to me. What visual could do justice to the aspirations that adults project onto little ones? Music is everywhere, but these days fewer and fewer kids have access to quality arts education due to funding shortfalls. I recalled that I had two xylophones growing up--one brightly colored and made of metal, the other handcrafted out of wood. Somehow, I thought that becoming a skilled xylophone player would eventually lead to a career as a concert pianist. This design pays homage to that naive conclusion, and to my belief that all kids should have the chance to learn to play the instruments that speak to them.
