Selena says: My work consists of pen and ink drawings that question the existence of gravity and natural form constrained in white rectangles. The piece can be viewed on the floor, twenty feet in the air, crawling along a stairwell, floating freely in the air, or on a circular plane. The limitless shape of my work challenges the viewers to apply gravity to the drawings and if there is gravity, what is holding it down? Frank Lloyd Wright often did the same when designing a building, to constantly fight the natural force of gravity in his own art and to prove that doesn't always have to seem completely grounded. The effect of the pen and India ink on white paper allows this through the timelessness of the tools and the ever changing marks that appear in the pieces.
