Emily says: I'm interested in tactile sensations. I want the wearer to feel this ring. The line is inspired by an art piece I made, with seven faceted "stones," each made from a different material: marble, oak, beeswax, brass; and the viewer was invited to pick them up and handle them. Not only did the stones change over time as they were touched, but each participant was able to take with them a tactile memory, in essence a trade. Leave your mark and take a memory.
These rings are a mobile, smaller, and more personal application of this concept. Since they are silver, they are made to be worn regularly, but over time the wear will show. I love grandmothers' old wedding rings where the inscription is barely legible, or the band has been smoothed thin. Of course, this takes many years. The rings are designed in a way to be handled; they are made to be a tactile object. The facets invite touch and feel satisfying, and are all unique and one of a kind. Carved from wax and cast in silver, each is a personal object that becomes more unique as it is worn.
Each ring is carved in wax and cast in sterling silver.
