Lindy says: I live in the high desert of central Arizona and there are all kinds of birds around our yard. I love painting them. I'm intrigued by the idea that these feathered friends could be messengers or spirit guides, navigating the vastness of flight, then returning to intimate nests and singing songs of joy. These two yellow birdies have a luminous quality that reminds me of rays of light!
I paint in layers which feature vivid color and texture. Some of my pieces may have up to 10 or 12 layers. They also may get 4 or 5 showers. I often take my paintings and put them under the water faucet to wash some of the paint off when they are semi-dry. I also may sand or scrape into the layers of paint, creating an aged look to my work which I love.
