Lisa says: In the summer and fall of 2011 we had some of the craziest storms we have ever seen. Trees have fallen everywhere, on power lines, on houses, on my neighbors shed, and in the road blocking us from leaving our street for a week. During that time, with no power, sharing a generator with our neighbor and households taking turns cooking food, we had a LOT of time on our hands. So we went on a hike. I have always loved wood, I love to find old messy pieces of wood and sand them down to find their shine! Re-purposing and nature have always been big inspirations for me, so on our walk of course seeing all these broken branches flooded my mind with ideas.

I found a gorgeous piece of birch and dragged it back to my house, got out the saw, and began to cut. What i saw was a world of possibilities. It started out as wonderful projects for my daughters and I to do together. We started by making key chains, ornaments, gift tags... we sat at the kitchen table, got out our paints and made a mess! A good mess of course. We painted, got silly and laughed for hours. That was the very first week of an amazing journey. As we started creating our ideas grew and our shop was born. I am finally doing what I love, my ultimate American dream.

We're a big fan that Lori's Starlight Woods Necklace came from found birch wood after a big storm. Read her product story to see how the idea made way. Do you think these necklaces are shining stars?

Lisa is a true Etsy success story! I bought a keychain from her when she was just starting out. I love the idea that she uses branches that have fallen. Her jewelry is so fun!

Lisa is a great designer and person! This is something that means something to her so each piece is made from a place of her love for nature and her sense of style. I am so happy that we had those storms that helped inspire her and she is where she is today and this passion of hers has flourished into such an incredible business.

I've bought several pieces from Lisa and each piece is gorgeous and well made!! She also will go out of her way to do custom orders for people, putting her heart into everything. Comparing her work to something that is massed manufactured (produced) and sold at the big box stores is just ridiculous.

Lovely. I'd buy them although I would love to see a larger diameter, like 1" to 1.5". Then they could really be a statement pendant!

I do also have these in 1-1.5 inch. Since they are made from tree branches, I can offer them in any size!

In my opinion, they look like nice pieces to give to a child as their first piece of real jewelry.

It looks of poor quality, junky. It's painted wood on a cheap chain, is that correct? Is the chain even included? Either way, no.

Vote: Thumbs up!

July 16, 2013 06:54:11 AM

The chain is solid sterling silver- not cheap and junky. And yes the chain is included. The wood is hand painted and coated with resin on both sides to give a glass like finish.

Lisa creates beautiful jewelry and at the same time re-purposing it. I get so many compliments on the pieces I have purchased! I like the fact that she can create custom items for various occasions. There is no way you could compare these to a Wal-Mart item! These are one of a kind!
