PRODUCT STORY
Karyn says: From our design studio's humble and grassroots beginnings, we've made-do, re-purposed and recycled out of both conscience and necessity. Bliss Bangles were born out of our own design challenge to reclaim 100% of our leftover fibers and create something beautiful at the same time.

Bliss Bangles are my perfect idea of an accessory that I want to wear every day as they're handmade, beautiful, comfortable and easy to wear. I like the tension between the subtle design of the fibers and the bold statement of the wide asymmetrical cuff. I love their origin and the creativity in their design and concept, I love their continuing purpose and I love how they express my individuality when I wear one.

Our favorite thing about these Bliss Bangles is that it's 100% recycled and still leaves a bold statement! Do these Bliss Bangles put a smile on your face?

Hi Topaz...I agree that the bangles bend and blend definitions...but that's part of the statement that they're making. I've seen bold bracelets before, but none that are practically weightless. These let you 'wear your art on your sleeve' in an unexpected medium.

Many people react to different fibers, wool for example, and I think they'd be hot and impractical.

Hi Elinor...great question about the origin of their name. I think generally artisans have a deep connection to the name they choose for what they labor over so I'd always ask how they arrive at the name. You'll be rewarded with insight to their way of thinking and creating. I named them 'Bliss' bangles for several reasons. The first is because they are natural and lightweight and silently comfortable to wear. Natural fibers are compatible with other natural things and activities that I enjoy, such as animals, nature, yoga, etc. To me, that says 'bliss'. The other reason for their name is the design process itself. It's blissful break in our hectic studio. The colors for each one are built slowly and methodically, it's a welcome quiet and purposeful task that requires that the maker slow down. Moving quickly around loose fibers will cause a colorful whirlwind that's pretty to look at but wrecks your work...so slowing down is essential to the process and results in slower breathing...bliss.Leah, thanks for your thoughts. There are fewer people than you'd think who are allergic to wool. Many times they are actually having a reaction to the chemical processing on lesser grades of wool from state wool pools used in mass produced clothing. In contrast, the loose fibers that we use in our bangles is the finest grade available on the market and is used by handspinners, of which I'm one. The result are fibers that are ultra comfortable next to your skin - a complete revelation for some people who always thought they had a wool allergy. As for being hot, I can gladly tell you they aren't. Natural fibers (wool too) are known for their breathability and have been prized in areas such as the middle east for thousands of years for this very reason. Give good quality natural fibers a try and you might love their qualities too.
