PRODUCT STORY
Erika says: I love the idea of turning something into something else. I had a wine barrel sitting in my shop for over a year waiting to be turned into planter boxes, when the idea hit me to use the beautiful oak for something different.

With a lot of wine-drinking friends, I figured what better than to make a wine bottle stopper out of an actual wine barrel... which led me to the shape and design of a miniature wine barrel made out of an actual wine barrel.

During the laminating process, I was careful to not remove too much so that I could maintain the dark color. The red line at the seam is the actual wine that has soaked into the oak.

We're big wine fans here at UncommonGoods, and we love products with unique reclaimed materials stories, so this beautiful bottle stopper by Erika Kendra stopped us in our tracks. Don't keep your feedback bottled up, tell us what you love about this design!

I love the idea of not only reclaimed materials, but of Erika Kendra's unique idea of re-purposing a wine barrel to a wine stopper! Such a unique and common thread. Good job Erica :)

We are always using wine stoppers and love the look of natural wood. I'll keep looking to for these when they go on sale. Good luck with your venture.

Who actually uses wine stoppers? There are but a few glasses of wine in a bottle, let alone if one is entertaining any number of guests. I have piles of wine stoppers I've never used even once. This is beautiful woodworking, just wish you would think to apply it in a different way.
