PRODUCT STORY
Cheryl says: I love gardens, although mine is really more of a "wild place" than a garden. I share it with deer, raccoon, skunks, wild turkeys and squirrels. My very favorite creatures are the many birds that populate the trees and shrubs. They have inspired me to make bird feeders and bird houses finished in beautiful, durable glazes that are designed to be fully functional.

Everything I create is hand-crafted in my home studio in Northern California where I am surrounded by redwood trees, nature and wildlife, all of which have influenced me in designing simple, elegant pieces that reflect the quiet, calm beauty of the natural world.

We love Cheryl's story about how her garden is a "wild place" filled with plants and animals. We also love the idea of happy little birds making this beautiful birdhouse home. What do you think?

I gave it thubs down 'cause it doesn't seem to have easy cleaning mechanism and also no bird perch.

Thanks for the feedback, Carolyn. While the bird house doesn't have a traditional perch, the lip of the opening does stick out a bit to give the birds a place to land. You can click on the alternate image (below the main image) for a better look. The piece includes a rubber stopper in the bottom for cleaning.

Thanks for all the comments and feedback about my bird house and the good questions. This bird house has a removable 2 1/2" rubber stopper in the bottom for clean out. It also has small holes in the back for ventilation. I do not use perches on my bird houses. A perch could give a larger predator bird a place to balance. I've watched the birds flying into these houses while tending their young. They are very careful and never use the same route. They fly directly in without hesitation. I was kind of surprised the first time I saw it. Rather remarkable little creatures...
