PRODUCT STORY

Paula says: I've been making jewelry and art out of handmade paper for 3 years or so and wanted to incorporate other recycled materials in my work. I collect broken glass from outside and miscellaneous items. One day I said to my husband, I want thin pieces of wood to use in my jewelry, and he said the magic word, 'veneer'. Looking around our home, there's plenty of vintage wood veneer that's coming off of old furniture or doors. So instead of throwing these pieces away, I cut them into shapes and glue them together.

I broke off pieces of the wood veneer from old furniture and ground up junkmail in a blender to make the paper backing that is sealed in resin.

MATERIALS
vintage wood veneer, polymer clay, handmade paper from junkmail, gel medium adhesive, resin, pinback

We love that the reclaimed wood in Paula's jewelry comes from vintage veneers. Does her Broach have your vote?

Why a brooch?!? Why not buttons, earrings, drawer pulls, beads for necklaces, ANYTHING but a brooch? I just dont like or wear them. I think this would be such a great idea if it was turned into ANYTHING but a brooch.
