Plui Rain Ball

Not available for purchase.

PRODUCT STORY
Designed by Alex Hochstrasser & Johanna Rickenbach, this charming toy provides a fun way to have a ball in the pool or bathtub, and it also teaches kids basic physical principles. To activate the Plui, kids simply need to immerse this quirky, colorful orb in water to fill it up. When it's lifted from the water, the eleven holes at the bottom begin to rain! To stop this wild downpour, kids can control the flow of water themselves by sealing the top hole with the tip of their finger. The Plui arouses curiosity and stimulates children's imaginations and their senses. Made in China.

Move over, rubber ducky, there's a new toy in the tub. Would your kids have a bath time ball with Alex Hochstrasser & Johanna Rickenbach's rainy yellow orb?

Wouldn't something like this eventually grow mold inside? I know I've gotten ride of some other bath toys after a while because they started smelling funny. Unless there is an easy way to let it air out and dry well I would think it could harbor germs. Not to mention it's make in China.

At the $12 price point, I would expect it to be made somewhere other than China. Chinese items are often poorly made and their draw is their cheap prices - for this money, I would expect a plastic ball to be locally produced. Doesn't make economic sense. Either produce outside the US for less money, or in the US for this price, You can't have it both ways. (I would buy this if made in the US/Canada for $10ish...)

I have to agree on the China comments - and to clarify that it isn't because we don't trust workers standards, it is because we don't trust that there aren't errant chemicals that contaminate things that are made in China. There are a great deal of people in China not wanting to buy goods made in China because of contamination concerns and I think that says a lot.

If it was made in American it'd probably be $40.
