PRODUCT STORY
Ceramics Design Challenge Entry

Throughout history, bells have marked beginnings and endings, times of war and peace, and for Cameron Petke, they have become symbols of people lost and periods of self-discovery.

Over the past five years, Cameron has focused on designing a modern interpretation of the Eastern temple-bell, an object with a distinctly beautiful shape and transformative sound. At a time when we are too often caught up in the frantic pace of modern life, the artist's desire is to create an object that can symbolically reawaken our need for calmness and compassion.

We love that Cameron's piece can be displayed in a quiet room as a reminder to slow down and relax or outdoors as a decorative, welcoming element in garden setting.

Wow. I've seen this artist's work in person - I'm so glad the beauty he produces is becoming more widely known. The bells do ring, too - a lovely, clear sound. I've never seen pieces like the Petke Bells by anyone else.

Size is not noted. Does this function? What kind of clapper? Or is it meant to be struck? Reminiscent of japanese dotaku.More info needed.

Beautiful work but too expensive. Is each bell going to look like this one or are they different styles? If it is mass produced, then again, too expensive. If each bell is unique, then I can understand the price a little more because of the time and energy and thought that goes into each bell.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone! Sorry for the delay, but for some reason my answers to your questions weren't posted yesterday. Re: the dimensions...This bell is fairly large at 15"ht x 10"diam. I create work in a variety of styles and surface finishes, and sizes range from 12"ht to deeply resonating 26" tall bells. If you'd like more info or to take a look at the different styles and how they can be displayed, please visit my website www.BakedClayStudio.com. Thanks again!

Thanks for the question, Ginny. We just received a sample of this gorgeous bell to give it a test ring. It does not include a clapper, but rather a rustic burnt wood striker. The bell has a lovely, deep resonating ring.

This peice is a stunning masterpeice. It is simple and elegant yet intricate. I have seen this artist's work in person and the ring of the bell sounds like an angel's voice. Cam, 350 just isn't enough. It's worth a lot more! Best of luck
