PRODUCT STORY
I remember discovering the transformative power of jewelry as a young girl, piling on my mother's jewelry with a more-is-better approach, and how beautiful and special it made me feel to wear it. As a child, I had no concept of how much it cost or what it was worth. All I knew was the pleasure of wearing it and how it made me feel. Inevitably, I would get caught and, fearing loss or ruin, be forced to put it back.

I think about how much beautiful jewelry went unworn and how it was locked away for safekeeping. The memory of this has shaped my relationship to jewelry. I believe it should be worn, and that the value of how good it feels to wear it is in fact more valuable than the object itself, despite its worth. It is my hope and intention that the jewelry I make be worn and enjoyed, that it lend itself to the expression of personal style, and that whoever wears it will feel beautiful and special too.

My company name is named after my great-grandmother, Filomena Demarco.

Made of sterling silver and turquoise, Ashley Vick's earrings are up for voting in the semi-finals of our Jewelry Design Challenge. Do you love this bold twist on the classic hoop?

I met this designer 3 years ago at an open market where she was selling her wares. She was very friendly and helped me find the perfect gift for my wife. My wife loved the cage earings. And since then now has 3 rings and a bracelet. We love to gift Filomena Demarco's jewelry at the holidays, too. LOVE IT!

Yes, my jewelry is expensive; however, it is all hand-made in my studio in Boston, MA. It is made from sterling silver and is not plated. I love Tiffany's as much as the next girl but, Tiffany's is all machine made jewelry, so you are basically paying for their name.

I don't get it...I guess I'd have to see them on. Why is the stone all the way at the back of the ear? Can you see it from the front?? Weird and too expensive...

These earrings are awesome and some of my favorite. It is probably harder for some people to tell the quality of items from only pictures but these are beautifully handcrafted. I guess that is just what the American mentality has come to now, quantity over quality. Why people will pay $100 for a piece of garbage at Ikea and say its a good deal even if it falls apart and is made of particle board but would never consider saving for an extra month and buy something that is beautifully crafted and support local artists who cannot cut down their costs by outsourcing their labor. C'est la vie.

I've seen these earrings in person and they look amazing!! I noticed some people below asking if you can see the stones when the earrings are being worn and the answer is YES! The unique stone placement offers a lot visual interest...it's all in the details!!
