PRODUCT STORY
I start by designing a simple geometric design, I cut out the felt (either pre-made or hand felted) that I will use and lay it into the bezel. I use a strong fabric glue that binds well with metals then steam is applied to set permanently.

I am currently a textile design student and I love working with fibers. Last year I was asked to create a functional art piece for one of my classes- I came up with "contemporary felt jewelry".

I love wool/felt and have enjoyed felting for a couple of years now. In that project I created these colorful pendants; the softness and fuzzy texture of the felt balances the sleek, shiny and solid properties of the silver bezel in which it is encased in.

Liza Meza's felted necklaces were selected to be semi-finalists in the Uncommon Jewelry Design Challenge. Will she go on to the final round? Leave us your thoughts and let us know what you think about her textile-inspired work.

No I do not make my own bezels sorry, but there are other designs that come with pre-made parts. The creativity comes from the concept, colors and designs.

I have had the glue on these sorts of pendants dislodge the inner colors.

The glue used for this pendant is a fabric glue compatible with with this particular fiber and along with the heat the colors are not affected of change what so ever. These pictures were taken says after the design was completed and the colors are vivid and vibrant.

LOVE the contrast of metal with a softer material like felt, but also how the felt lies fairly flat. Like the geometric patterns, but would like to see more color pallettes.

I think to really appreciate the color combinations it would be great in a larger belt buckle with some great looking leather and clasp or a major cuff bracelet. I like the colors and felting style
