Cherry Blossom Embroidered Wood Necklace

PRODUCT STORY
Yarn embroidery brings a touch of softness to a world full of hard metal and glass jewelry. Made of wood, my pieces allow wearers to express themselves with the nature found around them. Each stitch and knot is made with care. I love the look of embroidery and try to create jewelry that shows off the versatility of a textile art with a long history in human culture.

First, I create the design on the computer. I then take it to a local shop in Seattle and laser cut the wood. After that I embroider it and add the chain.

Amy, the reason that this necklace is $140 is because it takes about 3 hours of solid work to create each one. I can only make a couple a day; they are hand embroidered.

Sorry but it looks like it has a disease to me. Plus over $100 for this? Seriously? um no.

Simple, yet detailed the way I like my jewelry. The only thing I don't like the chain. Silver beads, or spacers would suit me better. :0)

This is beautiful, but I agree with others about the chain. It cheapens the look of the piece of art hanging from it.

The cherry blossom branch is beautiful. The chain leaves something to be desired. I like the fact that each piece is handmade. I find I am willing to pay more for an artist made piece than something designed by artist and then shopped out to someone else to be made. The chain really does need to be changed, however. For $140.00, it needs to be sterling silver, not base metal.

Super Modern! Really unique. The thought and time that it takes to make this item is venerable. I would purchase in a heartbeat. Keep on making beautiful but cool jewelry!

I'm weird about texture so this does not appeal to me. I agree with other posters that a different chain (maybe bolder) would make the necklace show better.

The blossom branch is well-made and one-of-a-kind! I just don't think this translates well into a necklace. A pin, maybe??

It is beautiful although I have to agree that the chain might be fine tuned to match the price. Ribbon? Leather? The angle is lovely, reminds me of hanami every spring.

Very artsy. chain is a detriment. maybe leather, or even rubber? lots of hard work is evident. don't listen to all those Negative Nellies out there.

Really pretty and unique. But perhaps it would be better if the cherry blossoms were only on the end branches (would look less like a "disease")

uniquely expressive! i love how they are a variety of materials in the piece. The yarn looks so elegant, I can't make yarn do that! :) And the black/wood background just ties it all in. Awesome!! :)

I love the concept and the unique materials used. Most artists would not use actual wood. I don't know how I feel exactly about the chain-looks sort of out of place with the natural element the word and yarn give, but definitely promising.

Bringing nature to the wearer in a simple, but elegant way, is superb. In place of the less than elegant chain, consider using a leather thong. That would continue the "nature" feel, allow for a handsome clasp and still be within the fair price for this level of artistry.

I own one of Allison's pieces and the picture does not do the chain justice. it actually is veeery good quality (I've had it for almost a year and no wear or fading of the metal). The chain brins a bit of industrial contrast to her usually soft designs. It reminds me of an old city like London. Where new glass and steel buildings are juxtaposed on a mostly brick and wood city.

I wish I could see this on...to get an idea of what it looks like wearing it. I think the chain needs to be gold or maybe black. Depending on size I think the price should be lower.
