UncommonGoods Launches New iPhone 5 Case Series by Artists after Nationwide Open Call

September 20, 2012 (Brooklyn, NY) - UncommonGoods, an online retailer that specializes in handmade, eco- friendly and uniquely designed gifts and accessories, is excited to announce their collaboration with 8 independent artists on the Artist iPhone Case series that will be available for the iPhone 5 as the phone is released.

In May 2012, UncommonGoods set out to find one lucky winner who would see their art work printed on iPhone cases by Casemate in the iPhone Case Design Challenge. Over 200 entries came in from artists and designers across the United States; 15 semi-finalists were sent to UncommonGoods' online community for voting and a panel of judges picked a winner from 5 finalists.

The winning design was Naomi Meller's Computer iPhone, a close-up photograph of a computer's motherboard that is as simple as it is compelling. The Computer iPhone case was released on the ecommerce website in June 2012 for the iPhone 4 and 4S models.

UncommonGoods buyers were so enchanted by the other designs that in July, UncommonGoods released 7 more designs for the 4 and 4S from the semifinalists: Was It What You Wanted by Athena Hahn, Dreamscape Escape by Hanna Kim, Textures of Life by Hannah Syndiongco, Rhythm for Color by Lara Mann, and The Liquid City by Sydney Henningsen.

"We are so excited to launch our Artist iPhone Case series. These pieces support UncommonGoods' efforts to make art accessible and to bring creative design to our customer's everyday lives," noted Erin Fergusson, Senior Buyer at UncommonGoods

UncommonGoods and Casemate have updated the cases to fit the new iPhone 5 models and are available for presale at www.uncommongoods.com. Cases retail for $39 and are scheduled to ship in early November.
