Embrace the inherent beauty of the natural world with this foliate napkin ring set by Michael Michaud. Native to Australia, towering eucalyptus trees are known for their beauty and for their aromatic leaves that yield medicinal oil. In this stunning four-piece set, these elegant rings are made using the spin-casting method whereby leaves are plucked, meticulously cast in bronze, and replicated in matte pewter, revealing the impression of every minute vein, crease, and crevice. Every coiled leaf is rendered with exceptional attention to detail, marrying dissimilar elements made by man and nature, and resulting in a table embellishment possessing a wild, yet refined, aesthetic. Handcrafted in Long Island, New York.

Mango Wood Salad Bowl With Bark

The beauty of woodcraft and function grow together in this one-of-a-kind bowl, fashioned from the trunk of a mango wood tree. The flowing organic shape, delicate grain, and the warm hues of its unaltered bark distinguish this dense, ecologically forested trunk-turned-bowl. After 15 to 30 years, mango trees naturally stop bearing fruit, but after it's harvested and hand-carved, this malleable wood takes on a new life as a stunning home accent. The rich, sweeping grain of this hollowed out trunk make it a natural spot for snacks like mixed nuts or decorative accents like painted pinecones or potpourri. When each mango tree is cut down, the roots remain intact to encourage regrowth. A sapling is also immediately planted to replace the harvested tree and to continue the cycle. Due to this careful process of harvesting and replanting, mango wood (or acacia) is a fully sustainable resource. This striking bowl comes from ecologically sound plantations, where no more trees are cut down than is ecologically permissible. Handmade in Thailand.

To create this copper necklace Stacey sculpts a stack of plain pennies into a convex bezel that opens to reveal the graphics found on every common cent; the Lincoln Memorial and Honest Abe's noble countenance in striking profile. The artist's metalworking expertise is displayed artfully in this unique locket where the front penny is gently curved to provide a spacious cap for tiny take-along items like aspirin or earring backs.
A baby's first year is indeed a year of firsts: the roll-over, the sit-up, the crawl, the scoot, the walk, the word. And whether it was in a romper, a onesie, a baby-doll dress, or a sailor suit, the little trendsetter conquered those many milestones in sweet, and snuggly, style. As the child grows from innocent babe to adventurous toddler, the little one and his or her parents can still get wrapped up in the excitement of those first big steps in life with Kathy Carrier's custom quilt.

Each one-of-a-kind quilt is handmade out of your choice of 15-25 of the child's most memorable outfits. The darling pieces are then cut into sweet, bubble-shaped patches and quilted with 100% premium cotton into the finished piece. Regardless of the original patterns and fabrics provided, every quilt is custom designed by an expert seamstress to capture the essence and excitement of the baby's first year. Every cozy blanket is backed with 20/80 cotton/polyester batting, making it ideal for keeping tootsies toasty as you take in your favorite bedtime story. Handmade by Kathy Carrier and her team in Indiana.

This remarkable necklace is handcrafted from reclaimed sari dresses from India. The fabric, with its rich colors and unique combinations of patterns, is cut into strips and then knotted around a series of wooden beads. This is done by a women's collective in a poverty-stricken area of India, enabling its participants to work toward economic self-sufficiency. Because of the upcycled nature of the materials, each handmade necklace will have unique variations in color and pattern. Handmade in India.

Marshall and Megan Dostal make it a point to live as eco-consciously as possible--you could even say they're driven. For years, the couple has relied exclusively on bio-diesel-powered vehicles to get where they need to go. To procure this eco-friendly fuel, Marshall collects depleted waste grease from some of Los Angeles' finest restaurants and converts it into useful energy in the Dostal's garage-turned-laboratory.

One day, Megan, a former event planner for Vogue magazine, discovered the result of years of DIY bio-diesel distilling: barrel upon barrel of glycerin, a byproduct of the conversion process. So, using Megan's high-fashion prowess and Marshall's eco-ingenuity, the couple took their passion for the environment one step further by creating their signature line of skin-soothing moisturizers that are as good to the earth as they are to your body.

The Dostal's stores of locally sourced, depleted vegetable oils are purified into rich glycerin and blended with bergamot, olive, and exotic grass oils, making a rich lotion that possesses a lovely, delicate scent. The aroma is light and summery, evoking dew-kissed grass blades, sweet tea, and a refreshing twist of citrus. The Dostal's handcrafted biofuel goes into their cars, the glycerin goes into their lotion, and in doing both, the couple has established a perfect sustainable circle and you're now part of it! Handmade in Los Angeles, California. Not tested on animals.

Take cards and cash on the go without the bag, or the bulk. The inspiration for this ingenious little sleeve all started when designer Dave Zuverink set out to construct a slim, yet super strong, wallet to contain all of his essentials without creating a big bulge in his back pocket. In his search, he discovered TyvekR, a rip-resistant material that, when folded, is still over half the size of its fabric and leather counterparts.

After creating over 100 prototypes, Dave emerged with a sleek, eco-friendly solution to his conundrum. His bi-fold wallets have a large central flap for storing cash, 6 slots for cards, and a window to keep your license or id on view. The completely recyclable Tyvek material contains 25% post-consumer recycled content. It's printed with earth-friendly, zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) ink using a process that requires no water. A professional, local tailor stitches and assembles each finished wallet in California.

The idea for this curious precipitation collector all started thousands of years ago with the simple question: "Is all that glitters gold?"

Posed by Ancient Greek King, Hiero II, to resident smarty-pants, Archimedes of Syracuse, the answer would change the world of physics, forever. Archimedes was summoned to ensure that the king's solid gold crown contained no lesser metals. The laurel-shaped headdress puzzled the thinker, since he did not know how to measure the crown's volume without damaging it.

Later, when he took to his tub he noticed that the water level rose as he entered the water and it lowered back down when he lifted himself back out. He suddenly realized how he could measure the volume of crown. According to legend, he leapt from his tub and ran through the streets of Sicily nude shouting "Eureka!" (Greek for "I found it!")

Centuries later, the World's Coolest Rain Gauge turns Archimedes' fantastically fun principle of water displacement into a refreshingly original lawn or garden accent. As the water flows into the copper collection flue, the buoyant, foam tube sealed inside rises to show water accumulation. Attractive and informative, this nifty pluviometer makes your backyard a little more interesting. Made in New Paltz, New York

Both are then given a thin layer of resin, which protects the graphic while giving them a sense of visual depth. Nylon cord has sterling silver clasp. Used by ancient portrait makers, encaustic is a centuries-old art making technique that uses melted colored beeswax to create glossy drawings.

Runs on 2 AAA batteries (not included), operates simply with just four buttons, and includes detailed instructions. Made in China.

That favorite sweater with the stain, or your scarf with the hole in it, can have new life, thanks to this ingenious Woolfiller kit. It's the brainchild of Heleen Klopper, a designer from the Netherlands, and uses traditional wool felting techniques to create patches that actually integrate with the material around them, staying strong even in the wash.

The kit comes with several colors of wool--pick a shade close to the original for a subtle fix, or choose something contrasting for more funky fun. Then, using the special felting needles, you repeatedly pierce the fabric until the patch forms. Felting needles have rasped edges that snag and bind together the woolen fibers. The result will be a handcrafted rescue for your wounded woolens. Made in Holland.

He then assembles them digitally into a collage that's rich in visual texture. Over this background are layered three lines of custom type (10 characters or less), which can spell out the names and wedding date of a special couple, or a special message of your choice.

The artwork is custom printed to the artist's exacting standards onto a specially coated aluminum sheet using infused dyes that show off the rich color and detail of the original image. The metal sheet is then "float mounted", using a half-inch of sturdy mounting foam, which gives the piece a sense of depth on the wall. Photographed in Florida; printed in California.

During High School, designer Charles Friedman worked as a sail maker building and repairing boat sails on the coast of Maine. When his grandfather's leather wallet fell apart, Charles decided to construct a new one from sailcloth scraps and was pleasantly surprised to find that this water-resistant material is perfectly suited to swiftly navigate delicate possessions through the elements.Built with the same high-tech racing sailcloth used by the world's sailing elite, the exterior of this unique sleeve is constructed out of tough, pre-consumer sailcloth made from durable carbon fiber and polyester matrixes. Distinguishd as some of the toughest, lightest, and most resilient cloths in the world, these core fibers have several times the tensile strength of steel. The interior is insulated with thick felt made from recycled plastic bottles. The inner and outer elements combine resulting in a striking case that provides your tablet with the ultimate protection from moisture, smudges, and scratches. Comfortably fits iPad 1 and 2, HP Touchpad, and Motorola Xoom 10 inch tablets. Handmade in Maine.

Serve artisanal cheeses on an aged surface that is as pleasing to the eye as your choice wedges, slices, and spreadables are to the palate. Produced from lava that has cooled over 80 million years, Brazilian agate is an exceptionally beautiful material that has prompted centuries of cultural intrigue. The ancient Babylonians, Egyptians, and Greeks all held the belief that agate possessed the power to protect its owners from evil and danger, and that it also produced delightful dreams. Like the eruption responsible for their formation, each of these organic oval-shaped plates contains spectacular bursts of color and microcosmic mineral explosions for stunning service. Hand-polished by artisans in Brazil. Assembled by Anna Rabinowicz and her team in Long Island, New York.

Fresh garlic. Tastes great, smells delicious, and it's good for you, too. But somewhere between removing the papery layers of peel and cleaning the crevices of your garlic press, it starts to feel like a bother. What you need is a tool that doesn't make such a stink out of garlic--and here it is.

The Garject isn't your average garlic press. You can put more than one clove of garlic in its wide reservoir, with no need to peel them. Its long, sturdy handles give you the leverage to press the garlic through the network of tiny holes, and then, as you open it back up, a unique spring-tension bar scrapes any remaining material from the outside. At the touch of a button, the leftover peel pops out of the press and into your trash. Then simply rinse the Garject or put it in the dishwasher, and savor the knowledge that your tasty garlic hasn't touched your fingers or dirtied any other tools. Made in China.

Finding her inspiration in the farms, gardens, and forested environs that surround her Connecticut studio, artist Merrie Buchsbaum captures the enchantment and serenity of the natural world in her charming polymer pieces. Studied in the arts, the natural sciences and nutrition, Merrie sows the seeds of all her passions in her gorgeous collection of three floral pens. Each earthy pen is infused with natural elements plucked directly from Merrie's cottage garden or her tree-lined yard. To make these functional pieces of art, the artist dries and grinds seeds, stems, and petals with a resin tinted and textured with a special blend of natural dyes that mimic the vivid shades of the original blooms. Each individually crafted pen is a pleasure to look at and to handle, and with every swirl of its barrel, each stunning specimen is just the thing to inspire any wordsmith to spring into action.
Lobster Rope Basket

It's about time this rope turned its life around. As "float-rope", it was once used to tether together underwater lobster traps off the coast of Maine, where it also posed a danger to the Northern Right Whale. Then, once such usage was outlawed, hundreds of thousands of pounds of leftover line threatened to flood into landfills.

Now, these wayward cords have been rehabilitated, finding new life as vibrant, earth-friendly baskets. Created using traditional basket weaving techniques, the ropes combine rugged sturdiness with bright, uplifting colors. A circle of pressboard inside provides the basket's bottom and helps it maintain its cylindrical shape. And whether it's toting picnic gear to the beach, or adding a nautical splash to your home, it's sure to bring nothing but goodwill from now on. Handmade in Down East, Maine.
