Enamored with what he calls "forgotten technology," Karl Zahn strives to turn back the clock on contemporary design with some traditional aesthetic principals. Alum of the Rhode Island School of Design, Zahn worked as an Architectural Fabricator in San Francisco before going on to study Danish furniture in Copenhagen. Believing that technology progresses too quickly for people to properly explore their full potential, Zahn actively creates pieces that walk the line between old-fashioned and contemporary, all the while drawing heavily from Danish history and industrial craft.
In the Belly of the Whale
With its booming call, splashing and playful surfacing, the whale serves as an ancient symbol for joy and creativity. This cheery figurine, designed by Karl Zahn, exemplifies the inspiration born from ancient art forms. Made from new growth beech wood in China, this little whale keeps your secrets behind his smile, hinging open to reveal an interior compartment, perfect for hiding your own little treasures.
Wooden Whale Box has been discontinued. When it sells out, it will no longer be available.
