Reclaimed Rennaissance

Organize your life with a nod to design with this artfully crafted, wall-mounted caddy. Using only reclaimed wood from derelict buildings, each caddy is hand cut and varnished by dedicated artists. Mason jars are inserted to hold keepsakes and treasures, and add a touch of rustic elegance to this fashionable storage piece. Made in Philadelphia.

Margaux and Walter Kent use their woodworking craft to evoke style and utility from the remnants of forgotten buildings. Their work is made from old things, treasures found and recovered from misfortune and neglect, relics of the unusual, the confused, and the macabre repurposed into wearable curiosities, inscribable keepsakes and useable, longlasting treasures. They started making things for themselves and their family, but now they make them for everyone.

Before meeting, Margaux and Walter were each interested in art and antiquity. Walter began working with wood in his father’s wood shop, where he learned carpentry skills by trial and error at a young age. Meanwhile, Margaux has always enjoyed artistic ventures in photography, jewelry, and bookbinding, and both are inspired by creation, transformation, and immersion in pieces of the past.

Their interests came together when they spruced up their backyard for their wedding party in 2009. After scavenging the neighborhood for wood and brick, they were inspired to tinker with reclaimed materials to make something new. Walter left for Iraq shortly after, and upon returning, made Margaux a tub caddy from some wood that remained from their wedding project. Their business took off from there.

In late 2012, the Kents moved their shoppe from their home into the olde Atlas Casket Company building in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Margaux and Walter Kent are a husband and wife with a boy called Søren and a boy called Silas. They live and work in Philadelphia, Penna.
